H.A.M Nazmul Ahasan obtained MBBS in 1982 and FCPS (Internal Medicine) in 1988. He received fellowships (FRCP) from Royal College of Physicians of Glasgow, Edinburgh and London in 2001, 2005 and 2021 respectively. He received Fellowship (FACP) from American College of Physicians in 2003. He has been honored with Mastership of American Pr College of Physicians (MACP) in 2016. Currently, HAM NAZMUL AHASAN is Professor of Medicine of Popular Medical College, Dhaka. Prior to this, he served as Professor and Head of the Departments of Medicine of Dhaka Medical College (2009-2015) and Khulna Medical Colleges (2003- 2007). He is the Chairman, Faculty of Medicine (2023-2025), Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons (BCPS). Previously he also served as the Chairman of Faculty of Family Medicine (2019-2020) and Faculty of Medicine (2015-2018) of BCPS. He is author and co-author of 244 articles published in national and international journals. He guided 46 students in writing Theses /dissertations. He has immense interest in research on Infectious, respiratory diseases and clinical toxicology. Currently Prof. Ahasan is the Chairman of the Editorial Board the Journal of Medicine (JOM), (2023-2025), an official Journal of Bangladesh Society of Medicine (BSM). He has been Editor in chief of the prestigious Journal of Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons, JBCPS (2012-15) and journal of Medicine for (2007-2015). He also contributed in formulating the National guidelines for the diagnosis & management of Dengue, Influenza, H1 N1, COVID-19 and Mucor mycosis. He is immediate past Elected Governor, Bangladesh chapter of American College of Physicians (2018-2022). He was president of Bangladesh Society of Medicine (2013-14) and also, served as the Chairman, Scientific committee, Bangladesh Society of Medicine (2016-18). He was one of the Members of, Bangladesh Pharmacy Council (2018-19). Presently, he is a member of Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC). Bangladesh Academy of science has awarded him with the prestigious 'Sultan Ahmed Chawdhury' Gold Medal (2003) for his contribution in the field of medical education and research. He also received “N Islam memorial gold medal” (2016) from Bangladesh Society of Medicine (BSM) and Association of Physicians (APB) (2021) for his contribution in the field of Internal medicine. He has been awarded with “Sakura Award” (2022-2023) by the American College of Physicians (ACP) Japan Chapter for his contributions to the development and invigoration of the ACP Japan Chapter.
